Dr Predrag Urosevic: Immersed in the Flow
Artist's Biography
Dr. Predrag Urosevic is a Serbian-Australian painter and surgeon whose work explores the delicate boundary between the physical world and the metaphysical state. Based for decades in South Brisbane (Mt Gravatt), his dual career as a General Surgeon and GP has informed a deep, rhythmic understanding of form, texture, and the "quiet intelligence" of nature.
Urosevic’s work is recognized internationally, with notable solo exhibitions at the Guarnerius Art Centre in Belgrade. His practice is a non-verbal transcript of space, moving fluidly between modern abstract forms and realistic motifs. His work is held in private collections in both Australia and Europe, celebrated for its ability to evoke a sense of deep, dream-like stillness.
The Spectrum of Green
"To paint in the spectrum of green is to participate in the 'Immersed in the Flow' of the natural dharma. Just as Green Tara sits with one foot ready to step into the world to assist, my brushwork seeks to balance the deep, rooted stillness of the earth with the luminous, moving 'glow' of the spirit. The difficulty of finding the right green is, for me, a practice in patience and presence—a surgical precision applied to a spiritual discovery."

The Path of Patience
In both surgery and art, we strive for a precision that often feels unattainable. To the artist, the 'green on green' nuance is the ultimate challenge—a shifting, living spectrum that defies easy capture. Yet, it is here, in the struggle to match the impossible vibrancy of nature, that I find a deep connection to the path of Green Tara.

Key Technical Themes
Lyrical Abstraction: A focus on emotion and rhythm over rigid representation.
The Mastery of Green: A specialized technical focus on the hardest task in nature painting: the subtle transitions of the green spectrum.
Meditative Landscapes: Large-scale, "dream-like" compositions designed to invite contemplation.
Hybridity: A unique blend of surgical detail (microscopic precision) and abstract freedom (macroscopic vision).
Compassion of Chenrezig
"Just as the compassion of Chenrezig requires infinite patience and a heart that never tires of the process, the act of layering green upon green is a meditative labor. It is a surrender to the 'flow' where the artist’s ego fades, replaced by the patient, compassionate observation of life’s subtle glow. We may never fully reach the 'perfect' green, but in the persistent, rhythmic attempt, we find the healing presence of the landscape itself."

As a long-term resident of the Mt Gravatt community and a practicing surgeon, Dr. Urosevic brings a unique perspective to this theme. His work focuses on the meditative challenges of color grading—specifically the "green on green" nuances found in the natural world. His paintings are intended to be "imaginary landscapes" that invite the viewer into a state of deep, dream-like contemplation, perfectly mirroring the spiritual and rhythmic atmosphere of the Chenrezig Institute.
We look forward to the possibility of sharing these works with the community of Chenrezig Institute, Friday 17 – Sunday 19 Apri in April.

The Internal Homestead: A Journey Back
"In this imaginary, meditative space, the 'returning home' is not a physical act, but an inner realization. It is a withdrawal from the constant turbulence of Samsara—the restless 'flow' of the river’s active currents—unto the deep, established stillness of the mind.
The central stone structure is not a simple dwelling; it is the mind’s internal fortress, built of the same 'perfect green' that requires patient observation and compassionate presence to find. By meticulously grading the green fields leading to it, I sought to capture the arduous process of calming the internal landscape.
We cross the stone bridge—a profound threshold of meditative focus—to leave behind the busy external world and retreat into the quiet, rhythmic glow of our true nature. This is a visual transcript of the space where the 'doctor’s precision' meets the 'patient's stillness,' revealing the final resting place of the heart: the inner homestead of peace."

Artist Statement
My work is an exploration of the 'imaginary landscape'—a space where nature is not merely observed, but felt. To me, the greatest challenge of the artist is the mastery of color grading, specifically the infinite nuances of green.
Capturing 'green on green' is a meditative process; it requires a surrender to the flow of natural light and the patient discovery of the 'right' color.
In these works, I seek to capture the rhythm of movement and flow within the glow of the landscape. Whether the subject is tangible or abstract, the goal is to create a meditative expanse that allows the viewer to immerse themselves in the quiet, unfolding intelligence of the world.
